Ha Ha Tonka State Park
First two photos are the home of Kansas City businessman Robert Snyder. He purchased the land in 1904 and began construction of a European-castle inspired mansion. Also constructed were a water tower (third picture), a carriage house, and several greenhouses. Snyder was killed in 1906 in one the first automobile accidents in Missouri. The house remained unfinished until his sons completed it in 1922. In 1942 the house and the carriage house were damaged in a fire. In 1976 the water tower was damaged by fire due to vandalism. The roof of the water tower and the stone of the house and carriage house have been persevered. The fourth picture is a flower I found while hiking.
Taken at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, May 2013.
